Wildlife conservation groups are becoming too self-absorbed in raising money for their respective charities, and are losing sight of the wood for the trees. Every conservation organization is fighting for their share of donation dollars when their real focus should be on lobbying governments who are in a far better position to successfully sustain wildlife conservation and preservation programs because of the unlimited resources at their disposal. At the moment most conservation groups are treading water and not making much headway or implementing long term strategies to ensure that there is a future for animal species living in wilderness. The fact is regular news updates from the frontline of wildlife conservation are failing to reach the general public when every effort should be made to publicise the pitfalls and the work being done to preserve natural habitat. Everyone has a personal view on wildlife sustainability but the general population are reliant on professionals in the field to effectively report their findings publicly so that the information can be used to improve the way natural habitat is currently being managed. Conservation groups must also liaise more often with journalists who are ideally placed to circulate wildlife news to a global audience. Conversely, the media should make a far greater effort to not only follow up but to initiate their own leads in furthering the wildlife conservation cause.
